Audiovisual Installation, Surround Sound.

KARMA is a non-linear, realtime rendered video installation, in which faceless humanoid figures are suspended in endless free fall, seemingly incapable of re-gaining control. They are floating, tumbling and often convulsing, as if hit with electric shocks.
The motions of the virtual characters are continously tracked, interpreted and then synthesize the rather ambient soundscape. Each figure becomes a discrete musical instrument and all together combine into a virtual ensemble. Their motions and “emotions" result in an overall symphonic, droning, pulsing soundscape.
Karma is incidentally the name of the real world physics simulator used in Unreal Engine 3, the software rendering the work, simulating a realistic sense of gravity and kinetic forces.
