FLUX (2025)

Audiovisual Installation. LED Wall Display, Surround Sound.

FLUX is the fourth composition in an ongoing body of work staged in darkness, after SOL, 2017, SUB, 2019cand EKO, 2019-22.

FLUX is an immersive field of darkness, light, and surround sound that suspends orientation. Within this dark void of space, micro moments of light appear in intervals, painting afterimages on the viewer’s retinas. Ghostly luminescent auras flicker and vanish, as if space were expanding into another realm.

Hentschläger’s focus is on the psychology of perception: How the body and senses recalibrate and adapt to changing conditions, creating a heightened sense of presence. Viewers drift, listen, and slow down as the minimal environment writes and erases itself around them.

The work’s intensity is balanced by calm — a lucid dream of photons and air, where edges blur and time feels elastic.

Due to the phenomenological nature of the work, video documentation is not available. Available photos depict 1⁄3 sec moments of light, before retinal after images, which, as said, can’t be documented.
