Computer controlled Light Installation for Lille European Cultural Capital.
NATURE 04 is a public project, transforming the 20 story Lilleurope Tower into a luminous kinetic sculpture.
Along concepts of mechanical time taking - the looped sequence as well as the timeline, it forms a contemporary jacquemart, an elektro-mechanical public clockwork, printing specific, kinetic light patterns throughout the night.
In measured intervals, bursts of light spread over the facade of the tower and then subside again. Eventually there is only darkness and stillness – the tower rests as if exhausted. Regaining "consciousness" at specific moments, the light patterns often conclude with static icons, like punctuation marks along the timeline.
